What did you think of CrossFit before you started? A: “I was a little sceptical I'll admit! I had heard a few things about injuries, the 'cult' like following and how strong these people were. Just to extend on those points and what I mean by them... With injuries - I've had one and it was my laziness that did it. The Cult following - It’s nothing like that. People find a passion and good people who support it so they like telling everyone about it. CrossFit is no different to being obsessed with your favourite sport. Strong people - They're incredible athletes and I'm glad they're there, they give me something to push harder for." If you were sceptical What made you try it out? A: "One of the girls I used to work with loved it and after much convincing and the option for the trial, I thought why not!" The first session can be daunting, What do you remember about your first one? A: “It was nowhere near as bad as I thought. Joe was welcoming and the 9.30am crew were brilliant.” What is next on your goals list in the gym? A: “Bloody chest to bar pull-ups, muscle ups and handstand walking...they drive me crazy.” (Us too Alicia) Were you doing any kind of exercise or activities before you started? A: “Apart from walking my dog, the odd workout video haha and little hikes here and there, not that much really.” What is something people wouldn't know about you? A: “I love engines and going really, really fast.” What keeps you happy and stress-free?
A: “My family, fur puppy, friends and the gym. I love happy, positive people and I try and surround myself with as much good energy as I can as well as making sure I give that back.” How would you describe your time at Urban in 3 words? A: "Wonderful, Positive, Drive" And lastly, for all those people out there who say they aren't fit enough for CrossFit, what would you say? A: "Do not be scared to try this. Develop your own opinion of what it's about. Urban is a family and I've never forced beyond my limits, I've been encouraged to push MY own limits. Urban are supportive and genuine people. I've tried gyms and hated them. This place is about you and beating what you did yesterday." Alicia, along with the other amazing members of our gym, continues to make it a community where everyone just wants to help each other. To see each other succeed as well as get the most out of a session as they can. We couldn’t be more grateful to have such a genuine and humble person with us who works hard both in and outside of the gym. Keep up the hard work Alicia, we can't wait to see what comes next for you! We have no doubt it will be that muscle up for sure! 😁😁😁
